It's November 2nd. As I mentioned in the last Artmail, two former students from the 1970's paid me a visit while vacationing on Kaua'i. Art L., who is now an electrical engineer, and Felicia T, who raises miniature horses and still has the 31-year old horse she had ridden to the high school several times back then, had changed quite a bit since those high school days when I last saw them...

The road to Polihale is really in pretty good shape, though Felicia, who skillfully drove us out there, will probably remember it as a driving challenge of sorts.

They hadn't seen any long, white beaches on Maui. The sands of Polihale made up for that.

It was nice visiting with Art and Felicia. They were not too enthrused about raw Ahi Poke and Squid Poke, which are delicious treats in the islands...more for Tashi and me. Today, they fly back to the mainland probably realizing that there is much more to see and do on Kaua'i than four days will allow.
