I did something different with this month's shaka photo of me...so it's larger here. Polihale is still closed. There has been rain on the weekends so the volunteers have not been able to work on the repairs. (Story here). I copied a google earth image of some of the areas that I stayed at Polihale through the years marked...

Hopefully, by May, the road to Polihale should be passable...thanks to volunteered equipment and labor. Mahalo.
The opportunity to camp at Polihale is the main feature for couchsurfers surfing "my couch" in 15B. After Polihale reopens, I will make my couch available again to couchsurfers. CouchSurfing.com now has 1,000,000 + members as of March 12 !!!

OK, now for the "MacDonald of the Isle of Skye tartan" painting...
...
My project is to paint this MacDonald tartan design on PFP002's headband. The tartan's colors are from woven colors which creates a blend of the two colors where they intersect. To include the blend colors on the painted headband makes for difficulty, but I will attempt something like that using plenty of "artistic license."
The headband has been painted with many, many coats of gesso to smooth out the grooves in the palm frond.

I didn't know how to start, but I wanted to get a coat or two of acrylic paint over the gesso...I chose blue.

I had to experiment around with the painting approach, but it looks like when I'm finished it will be recognizable as a MacDonald of Skye tartan headband.
