I am pretty frustrated today. "When it rains, it pours," the Morton's Salt slogan reads. And it happens with other little problems...a lost this, another broken that, some computer programs start acting weird, my van's front end worries me as new sounds appear. But, on the bright side, the westside of Kaua'i is nice and sunny this morning. But, I really am in no mood to be writing anything. I hope things work more smoothly online when I'm uploading web pages and putting the two items up for auction on eBay later this morning.
I wasn't able to complete what I wanted to do online yesterday so I had to stay another night. Doug had gone back to Polihale on Tuesday and I'm sure he has everything under control there. I am sorry that I couldn't be a better host at this time, but that's the way things are going, now. Hopefully, next week I will have more inspiration.

May 16...Doug McKenzie from Australia arrived at Polihale on the 14th with a rental car. Got to Kekaha today and uploaded some photos, but ran out of time so no Artmail additions but for this.

I couldn't get into Kekaha last week to get online because the rainy season has arrived at Polihale...and over the whole state. In the last two months we must have had a three-year supply of rain. All the vegetation is turning green...the pali is green. When it's raining there are red and white waterfalls all along Na Pali. It rained hard this morning and another very heavy storm is supposed to arrive later today. There are two big "lakes" across the road. Some of the tourists who braved the road in as far as the "lakes," walked on into Cane Top pavilion. There are nine of us "camping" here now.
Patrick got a ride in and brought me his rechargeable Electri Pac (heavy-duty high capacity portable electric power) to use for my computer. I had used up my batteries several days ago. It's working great...I think it would be a good idea to buy one, when I get a chance...he ordered his. So you can see photos of what the rain is doing at Cane Top, click here.

HELP! I'm creating a monster! The tribe of Purple Feather People is growing too large for me to carry in my minivan while living out of it at Polihale. There is no way that I can transport the whole tribe-to-be while traveling the way that I do. I hope to find homes for them fairly soon after they are finished being painted.
Here's the problem: They are part of a larger art/travel project. Each of the PFPs may be considered a game piece. Imagine a permanent web site for the 99 PFPs' travel bios...about Polynesian islands...South Seas...etc.
But that's for the future...maybe. It's better just to consider The Polihale Purple Feather People of Kaua'i by Boomerang Art. It's palm frond art plus a lot more.
Ownership or being Host of a Purple Feather Person is an introduction to and provides membership in the Polihale Ohana. The PFP should be brought to Polihale, of course. Members of the Ohana will recognize the PFP and special Aloha will happen. The arrival of a PFP will usually be a traveler returning to spend some camping time at Polihale. So, owners of PFPs are "in" at Polihale, even if they haven't been there before. Most owners will have already experienced Polihale and the PFP is a powerful memento.
A network of traveler owners who have thus connected with Polihale is going to be formed on the Internet. Owners know that when they return to Polihale they will see familiar ohana and it will be "like old times." Owners of PFPs will share common experiences and friends with other PFP owners whom they haven't met...yet.
Another problem: BoomerangArt's eBay Store. I have to keep something in it for sale as long as I'm paying the rent. It, too, is part of my larger art/travel project. My plan is to use my eBay store as the outlet for folk arts and crafts from the islands of Polynesia (and Australia) in which I travel. I will have the mechanism in place to auction or sell items via the Internet from wherever I can get online. The receipts are deposited by eBay into a special bank account from which I may withdraw cash from ATMs anywhere in the world. All this takes time to set up, and I am the only one working on it...in my own relaxed way...while on the move.
So, somehow, I have to make all the information lines that run out from each PFP available to owners and potential owners. (Later on, I may do a band of PFPs from Rarotonga using coco palm fronds from there...etc.). What I am writing here is just part of the information. I will have to have something available for eBay shoppers to read if they are interested in learning more about PFPs. Hopefully, visitors to Polihale, who have a copy of my card with my URL, will visit my website for an update now and then. Some who asked about my selling the PFPs while here may want to acquire one as a memento and also as a possible collectors item. Other eBay viewers who have never heard of Kaua'i, may become interested and obtain a PFP and, on a lark, take an adventure trip to that fantasy island with the goal of visiting Polihale, the birthplace of the Polihale Purple Feather People.

Gotta go...I get online in 30 minutes. I'll expand on all this PFP stuff next time...and then maybe I'll be ready to auction one or two of the PFPs as a test. I only get online on Wednesdays and Thursdays so I won't be able to answer questions from potential buyers and thus get graded down on communication. Maybe I should have a 10-day auction...that way I would have two days to wrap things up and ship the PFP. But, first, I have to get the photo page made to be on the eBay site. From there is a link to my web site and new people may visit. It's all in the formative stages so please have patience. I want to get back to painting.
