Aloha all...
[Tashi and I got back to Kaua'i from Rarotonga on Halloween. I had to order a new notebook computer which has now arrived. I had attempted to save folders from the old notebook to zip into the new. One program that I use when making this website got corrupted. Another copy of it is coming by mail. I have not yet edited the Rarotonga photos. As I do that I will add photos to the Artmails. I have not been taking photos this month as I am doing computer work. I will keep adding photos as I get time.]
These first photos were taken on October 7th after getting my little garden in shape for my absence:

Early in the morning, two days before Tashi and I were to fly to Rarotonga, my notebook broke! I could not get online! I couldn't get it to work even with hours of technical support by phone. "It sounds like a virus" from my description of problems leading up to the "final" crash.
I had a hard time believing it...two days before the trip!I couldn't pinch myself awake. It wasn't a dream...it was real! A Crummo Tour.
The way to survive a Crummo Tour is to look at the situation from different angles...until a good perspective is found.
It solved my weight problem.
We like to travel only with carry-ons. My notebook and accessories could be eliminated leaving only one carry-on and no more six pounds overweight to worry about.
It is time to get a new notebook with 60 gigabytes of storage and enough memory for DSL. I can pay monthly.
There were adjustments to be made. I would not be able to unload my digital cameras 64 MB card...the only one I had. I had to use low resolution on almost all my shots...I had over 800 available. I would not be doing computer-time work for this website which meant that I would be doing a lot of reading on Raro...and playing cribbage.
So, here is a photo of Rarotonga on a postcard:

Rarotonga is about five miles long and 20 miles around. It's the capital if the country and has about 11,000 people living on it. The people speak Maori and English with a New Zealand accent.

We stayed the first three nights at Tiare Village, where I first stayed in 1985.

On the other side of the stream, a dog barked most of the night.

The next week, we stayed on the west side at the Are Renga Motel in Arorangi.

The building we stayed in used to be a nite club.

The last eight nights we stayed on the east side in a Muri Lagoon View Bungalow:

Everybody who wants to drive a car or motorbike must have a valid Cook Islands drivers license. If you do not have license for driving motorcycles, you must take a test. I showed them my license from 2000 and avoided that.
...
......
With my license in my wallet, I was drove legally and carefully down these roads from the "villa".
