I don't have many photos for this Artmail, but I'm going to put something online now so that I will have my minimum of two each month. The good news is that I bought a new digital camera which should arrive Monday, I hope. My other camera was giving me serious problems. So, I haven't been taking photos. Also, I have what is probably "carpal tunnel syndrome" in my left thumb, index and middle finger. Whatever it is, it's numb and I make a lot of errors typing. The most troublesome is hitting an "r" when I want a "t" and then when I correct, a lot of times I hit "rt" and have to correct again. I'm not much of a typist, anyway. (I have test appointments with a neurologist next week).
Also, I bought a new slide scanner. I have many old travel slides to scan, plus family slides. I will be putting my 1975 Europe slides online among the first. (I just looked in Menu 2 and saw that I haven't put other 1978 Asia/Australia photos that I had scanned from slides several years ago...maybe I'll put some of those linked from this Artmail, if I have time).
Doug, the Wildduck, CouchSurfer from Australia, will be arriving on Kauai in the middle of next month. There will be plenty of photos in August and September. There are other "irons in the fire" for the coming months. Anyway, here are some Polihale photos that I took earlier this month:

I heard that Bob and Sue were camped by The Tree at Polihale with family and friends. I had made a CD of their wedding photos which I wanted to give to them. Betsi wanted to take a break and see a Polihale sunset and have some photos for her daughter's family to see back in Alabama, so she went with me.

We had some surprise visitors. First, Kash from the Netherlands, who was camping at Polihale several years ago. I thought he had returned to Holland, but he hadn't. He got married and is now living on the eastside of Kauai...they are expecting a baby this fall. He told us about his kayak trip from Kalalau Valley. The rudder broke and the boat capsized. He and the other person were having trouble. A tour boat happened by, picked them up, put the kayak on the bow and gave them a pleasant ride to the beach near Cane Top Pavilion. They were very grateful for the rescue.

My slide/photo scanner and new digital camera have arrived and I have been familiarizing myself with them. Some scanned slide photos that I shot in Java in 1978 are HERE. I have yet to use my new slide scanner on travel slides. I will be updating or redoing photos in Menu 2 after I have use my new scanner. This will be all for this Artmail.
