The morning of my son's birthday, I went to the Kekaha Elementary School May Day Fair. It begins with the coronation of the King and Queen following Hawaiian tradition. Princes and Princesses representing various Hawaiian islands follow their kahili bearer, the kahili is their island's color. (Kauai's is purple). Then the Queen and King follow their two kahili bearers to later be crowned. Each grade provides traditional entertainment.
