Aloha all...
There was a break in my painting routine last week. I received an email from a new couchsurfer from Oregon who was on Kauai attending a cardiology conference, but wanted to spend more time on the island until the 21st. Camilo was born and has family in Chile, graduated USC, now lives in Portland.

Camilo was interested in, maybe, camping at a beach. I have a tent, camp stove, cooler and some other gear for couchsurfers use. I suggested we ride out to Polihale so he could check it out and if he wanted to camp there, he could pick up the gear and some food when he brings me back to 15B.
We saw Clifford with the broom sweeping sand in the second pavilion, so we stopped there and I introduced them to each other. When Elliot and Lisa stopped by, I got out the camera and took some shots:

Camilo decided that he wanted to camp at Polihale. We went on a little side trip on the way to the store:

Legend says the the ditch was built by the Menehunes (the little people who were on Kaua'i before the Polynesians arrived). Whatever...the ditch was here when Captain Cook arrived and stone work like that is found no place else in Polynesia.
On the other side of the road is the Waimea Swinging Bridge rebuilt after Hurricane Iniki.

After Camilo was on his way to Polihale, I quickly wrote a note to go with PF Greenback No. 21 that I mailed twelve minutes before the PO's closing time. It went to the first sponsor via this website...that's the Wild Duck at Rainbow Retreat in Nimbin, Australia, who is preparing for the 13th Mardi Grass Festival on April 30th and May 1st. Patrick came by this morning and mentioned that one of the Greenbacks showed up in his Dreamtime last night. I imagine that means Greenback 21 has arrived in Australia. Mahalo.

It's the 24th. On the 20th, I planned on going to Polihale to see how Camilo was doing. Betsi wanted to go with me. As I was getting ready to leave 15B, there was a knock on the door. It was Camilo. When he found out what we were planning, he wanted to go back out to Polihale so he followed us back out.

Ronald G. rode that scooter on the back roads from Kekaha to Polihale. I think I might like one later on.

Camilo said his good-byes and left to do some shopping before flying back to the mainland. I checked the cooler and decided that the ahi poke should be eaten. Nobody else wanted anymore, so I made an ahi poke burrito. ONOLICIOUS!
