The following are last photos I have with Kolo. He had been evicted from his hale in Kekaha Ha'aheo through a series of questionable circumstances (very long story) in 2007. He had a dome tent and a tarp plus his camping needs and all his possessions that were not stored with me in 15B set up under a tree in a lot "belonging to my cousin" across from Lucy Wright County Beach Park in Waimea.
........
(In 2008, the property was sold and Kolo was evicted again...to his van).

In 2007, Kolo was making the best of his situation...camping across from Lucy Wright County Park and its facilities...and on the other side of the park and by the bridge over the Waimea River, he would net crabs for food and barter. He had his bike to get around town.

Kolo always had a few projects going on that didn't hurt his arthritic hands the way carving did one of which was making carved "birds" which could be used as fishing lures behind boats. Even though he was not allowed in Kekaha Ha'aheo, Kolo brought these "bird" he was finishing to 15B so I could get photos:

Periodically, I would have CouchSurfers (travelers) staying in 15B and if we were on a tour and passed Kolo's place, we would stop and talk story for a while. Caro, from France, visited in August...

On December 22nd, Betsi and I had a Christmas dinner at Kolo's hale. He did not want to go far from all his things. So, we set up a table next to it...

Kolo, as usual, didn't want his photo taken.
The last photo that I took of Kolo was on Christmas Day at Waimea Pier State Park when a visiting CouchSurfer, Linda C from Seattle, and I stopped by and talked story with him...

The rest of the photos I have with Kolo are on prints stored in boxes. I will eventually scan and put some in different named series such as "Hanapepe Days." I will eventually have a menu to Kolo photos. (I found some more digital photos with Kolo from 1998 and 99 that I will also upload in the future sometime).
