Custodial Sponsorships:
Kanaloa and I plan to do Kanaloa's Safari around the world in 2005 with a stop in Australia. My plan for the next five years is to visit, photograph and paint at least one Purple Feather Person from each Polynesian island that I am able to visit...with Kanaloa. This is a reasonable adventure for me to attempt during my senior years. It fits in with a longer-range plan by Boomerang Art for AlohaRangs of Hawaii. (It is more fun to paint palm fronds than boomerangs and they are more readily available in the tropics. I am not going to discuss that plan at all at this time). AlohaRangs fits into the Kanaloa's Safari picture by picking up the tab for transportation, accommodations, some supplies, Internet expenses and an occasional per diem. This will be done via AlohaRangs' bank card account for ease of record-keeping of the business travel expenses.
AlohaRangs now has the custodial sponsorships of most of the Purple Feather People who will speak for the sponsors of boomerangart.com...this free website. Kanaloa speaks for AlohaRangs. (The Purple Feather People do not want political, porn, or religious sponsors)....

I have planned to paint 99 Polynesian Purple Feather People on carved palm frond bases from selected Polynesian islands. I have created about about 30 from the island of Kaua'i. During the next five years, I hope to complete the 99 PFPs.
The first 30 PFPs were once living at Polihale Beach as coconut palm frond bases...the part that holds the palm frond to the tree. None of the Purple Feather People is "finished" as they are living art. The palm frond has gained a new life as a PFP and being from Polihale, they are alive with the Spirit of Aloha. They are not to be sold as people should not be sold. Custodial sponsorships are another thing.
Kanaloa's Safari is a planned trip to spread a little Aloha around the world and starts at the beginning of 2005. (See here) Nineteen PFPs have been "volunteered" for the custodial sponsorship list to get new custodians. The PFP page has been updated, somewhat.
If a PFP is selected by a boomerangart.com sponsor for custodionship, the PFP will then reside where the sponsor chooses. The sponsorship lasts throughout 2005, but the PFP stays with the sponsor until custodianship changes at the sponsor's option. (The sponsor may receive an offer for the PFP that is hard to resist).
These PFPs are like paint on my "palette" for "painting the pictures" into my life. So is "Boomerang Art, the boomerang pro." This picture I'm painting has Boomerang Art as the "tour guide" for Kanaloa (PFP 01) while taking the trip for AlohaRangs. Boomerang Art will be taking many digital photos which he will put online almost weekly in the Artmails of his website. (Here's the story part): He has agreed to take Kanaloa with him and that the photo-expedition will be called "Kanaloa's Safari" IF Kanaloa's people can come up with the funds for transportation, accommodations, some supplies, Internet access and occasional small per diem.
The goal of the Ten PFPs custodial sponsorships is to raise US$10,000 for Kanaloa's Safari travel expenses. Each of the Ten PFPs will have its custodianship transferred after US$1000 is received by Aloha Rangs of Hawaii. First come with a 10% reserve deposit of US$100, gets first pick of the 19 PFP choices.
This whole plan may seem weird, but it is my creation. If it works, great! I'm on my way. If it doesn't work this time, I'll just stay here in my paradise and keep "painting."
I plan to leave Kaua'i for California in the first half of December to celebrate the holidays with my family then begin the safari at the first part of January 2005. When a PFP has been reserved, I will finish it's headband and design and finish painting and coating with acrylic clear then ship to sponsor after payment is completed. Potential sponsors...please don't wait until December to reserve...I'll need some time before I leave for painting.
There is another aspect to the Purple Feather People and their developing lives...Kanaloa will be couchsurfing in the CouchSurfing.com network during the safari. There are many developments to materialize during the PFPs' evolution. The whole project is a different kind of art...it is happening on boomerangart.com early in the game. Stay tuned.
